A mysterious man walked into a Denny’s in Utah recently. The hostess who greeted him was taken back a bit from his strange request while she was seating him. The man asked if he could have a “single mother” as a waitress.
Many people, especially women, would take offense to this. There’s an assumption, for some erroneous reason, that single mothers are “loose with their morals,” or “desperate,” etc. Nothing could be further from the truth for the most part, and it’s no wonder the hostess might have been leery of this lonely, strange man from the get go.
The man was seated in Crystal’s section. Being a single mother of a young boy, Crystal filled this lonely, mysterious man’s request.
The man didn’t eat much during the two to three hours that he was there, but he did do something quite amazing. While he was there, seven different families came in to dine, and he anonymously paid all of their tabs, which totaled more than $1,000.00.
The hostess asked him why he did this, and he told her that “family is everything,” and that he had lost all of his.
She left, so that he wouldn’t see her crying, and when she came back, he was gone.
However, he’d left his bill, and not just the little more than $21 to pay it, but he left Crystal a tip of $1500.00!
What he didn’t know about Crystal, or at least what he could not have known about her through any earthly means, was that she and her young son were actually staying in a shelter. Just the very night before, Crystal had prayed for hours that she and her son would be able to move out of the shelter.
It looks like God sent her an angel!
